Susan Sarandon Bio

It was the year after the 1968 Democratic convention and there was a casting call for a film that had several parts for young people who had disrupted the convention. Two recent graduates from Catholic University in Washington DC attended the auditions in New York for Joe (1970). Chris Sarandon was not selected even though he prior studies in acting. His wife Susan was given the opportunity to play as Susan Compton. Susan Compton is the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill kills Susan’s drug dealer boyfriend. Then, Joe (Peter Boyle) an obnoxious gangster who works on an assembly line and is a collector of guns, becomes friends with Susan. Five years later Sarandon is the director of the film. Janet is a transvestite who is entangled by Dr. Frank n Furter (1975). Sarandon fought for Annie in Bull Durham (1988) more than 15 year following her first appearance in the film. She flew at her own expense from Rome, Italy to Los Angeles. Sarandon said that "It was an amazing script... it did away with many myths and challenged America's notion of what success is". "I went to the studio with Kevin Costner and shook hands with his hot assistants before boarding the plane. Tim Robbins, her Bull Durham (1988), supporting actor was her first love. He had two sons by the year 1992. This put Sarandon in a precarious position. She was forced to leave her home to take on the roles that were extremely challenging. This led to four Academy Award nominations in the 1990s and for the best actress in Dead Man Walking (1995). Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980), was her first Academy Award nomination.
