Moss was born on February 13, 1977. He is an American football player. He
played in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons , including the
Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and
the San Francisco 49ers. Widely regarded as the greatest wide receiver of all
time along with Jerry Rice, he holds the NFL single-season record for touchdown
receptions (23 in 2007), the NFL single-season record for touchdown receptions
for rookies (17 in 1998) and is ranked second on the NFL all-time regular
season touchdown reception list with 156. Moss was well-known for his skills in
securing a the contested catch, and "mossed" is today a football
word. Following his time in football began, he was hired as a studio analyst at
ESPN for their Sunday NFL Countdown program and Monday Night Countdown. Moss
was from Rand, West Virginia native. Moss was a student at DuPont High School.
This was one of the two schools that later merged to create Riverside High
School. He was a star in basketball, football and baseball. Randy was also on
the school's debate team. Moss led the DuPont Panthers football team to two
consecutive state championships in 1992 and 1993. His most prominent position was
wide receiver. But he also played free safety in punted kickoffs, as well as
was the team’s punter and kicker. He received the Kennedy Award in 1994 as West
Virginia's Football Player of Year. Parade magazine named him to their
All-American high-school football teams in 1995. In 2009 they named him one of
the top 50 high school football players of all-time.
